A Conversation with Jack Lenor Larsen at the Parrish Art Museum

Jack Lenor Larsen, internationally celebrated textile designer, author, collector, and founder of LongHouse Reserve, will discuss the intersection of art, craft, and design in an illustrated talk with Parrish Director Terrie Sultan. This program is scheduled in conjunction with current special exhibitions Steven and William Ladd: Mary Queen of the Universe and Alan Shields: In Motion, which incorporate non-traditional techniques and practices such as beading, sewing, and weaving.

Jack Lenor Larsen is the founder of the 16-acre LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton and self-named textile company. He is one of only four Americans honored with an exhibition at the Palais du Louvre and his fabrics are in the permanent collections of museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; The Art Institute of Chicago and Victoria & Albert Museum, London, among others. Larsen has previously worked with the Parrish Art Museum, having organized and curated a show of works from his collection in 1983 entitled The Art of the Dyer: Textiles from the Collection of Jack Lenor Larsen.
