An exciting new two-person art exhibit curated by Dawn Lee has been installed at The Omni Gallery inside RXR Realty's Omni building in Uniondale, NY.  Perception and Transformation features unique fine art aerial photography works from North Fork artist Alex Ferrone that she produced from the past several years photographing over the region.  A portion of Ferrone's sales proceeds will benefit the Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Program whose mission is to protect Long Island waters and provide a clean environment for our fish, birds, and aquatic plants.  Also exhibited are oil and acrylic paintings from Bellerose artist John Day's Glacial Pond and Wilderness series.  Meet the artists at the opening reception on Sunday, October 30 from 3-5pm and enjoy wine and light bites. The exhibit runs through February 11, 2017.

Alex Ferrone states, "My Aerial Observations works are singular studies of bodies of water and land of Long Island. Through aerial photography, I have been able to abstract from diverse natural scenes, various colors, textures, and shades of our waters and landscapes, creating painterly images that shed amazingly unusual perspectives of our everyday panoramas.  Presenting this unique perspective for the viewer creates a new awareness and appreciation for the fragile ecological systems that surround us that can be taken for granted."

Art critic, Charles A. Riley II, PhD writes about Ferrone's work, "What is all the more exciting is the way in which the photographs share the touch and expressiveness of a painting, an effect I find time and again while looking at Ferrone's work. Her nimble capability to mobilize our perspective permits us to rise, hover, turn, and pull back with her from the shimmering waves in which we are more accustomed to swim and the tide lines we trace on our walks. Known from ground level, these places are made strange, even wondrous and more loved, when framed from above by her alert eye."

Working from a helicopter, "old-school" as she jokes with reference to the new hobby of drones, as a commercial aerial photographer, Alex Ferrone has developed her unique fine art photography concentration over the years called "Aerial Observations".  A self-taught artist, Ferrone's commercial and fine art photographs have been published widely in regional, national, and international publications including the Pinhole Journal, Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Vanity Fair Magazine, NYS Travel & Tourism Guide, The Wall Street Journal, and Newsday, and have also been featured in numerous online magazines.  Ferrone has had solo exhibitions in Italy and on Long Island, and has shown in numerous group gallery and museum exhibits regionally and in Italy - currently having been selected for The Heckscher Museum of Art's Long Island Biennial and recently exhibited with the Monika Olko Gallery, as well as ArtSolar in Sag Harbor.  Her works are in various private collections internationally.
