Jessica Burko will be exhibiting one-of-a-kind encaustic collage at the
Roslindale Open Studios
November 1 - 2, 2014
11am - 5pm
At the Church Group Site: 25 Cummins Highway
This is the 10th year of Roslindale Open Studios, a family friendly event with neighborhood artists showing and selling original art and fine craft.
Inspired by self-reflection and the theater of the domestic, Burko’s work reveals non-linear narratives inspired by life loud with children, laughter, cynicism, work, and vivid dreams. Each piece combines found ephemera with original photographic images. The parts are assembled on reclaimed wood using encaustic as the medium of collage and vehicle for image transfer. The stitched, fused, layered aspects of life, pieces of domestic space, and unexpected portraits, are both real and imagined. Within this work discarded materials are unified as a way to reclaim the past and blend it with the present.
