It is only a few times when an EUREKA moment strikes. And as the curator for “A Bridge in Conversation”, this moment arrived upon viewing the latest series painted by the artist Marissa Bridge.
Ms. Bridge is a long-time fine art painter from the 1980’s and she was schooled at Manhattan’s School of Visual Arts. She, unfortunately, experienced a heartbreaking tragedy that held her to high-end decorative art for under a decade until a gift of an Orchid.
Hear her story!
She paints her 1990- 2005, “Underseascapes” series – underwater florals in hues of blue and gold, an early career immunity to what lies ahead. In 2012 – 2015, “Silent Journey” - the life cycle of an orchid – birth to death, her personal story experiencing sudden loss of a cherished loved one and her closure. Her newer series from 2015 and forward - Liliths and Mums - she struggles between abstract and realistic painting to canvas. She wrestles internally, her feminine expectations and desires and it shows.
