"Solarplate 2016" - Group Show of International Artists, Opening @ Alex Ferrone Gallery, Cutchogue NY

An Exhibition of Solarplate Etchings From International Artists Opens At Alex Ferrone Gallery.
 
Solarplate 2016, the first international juried exhibition at the Alex Ferrone Gallery on the North Fork, features original photographically based Solarplate etchings created from 49 artists.  Works were juried for the exhibition by Dan Welden, master printmaker and developer of the Solarplate printing technique. The artists' reception will be held on Saturday, October 1 from 6-8pm and is open to the public.  Four Awards will be presented at the reception and guests can enjoy wine from Martha Clara Vineyards with light bites.  Aside from being chosen for the six-week exhibition at the Gallery, top prizes include a Two-day Residency with Dan Welden in his Sag Harbor, NY studio and various artistic materials. Solarplate 2016 runs through November 13.

 


About the Juror:
Dan Welden is a master printmaker, painter, educator, and author who has been creating works on paper for over 50 years.  His works have been shown in over 80 international solo exhibitions and over 700 group exhibitions in museums and galleries around the globe, and are included in many public and private collections throughout the country.  Mr. Welden is the originator of the technique called Solarplate etching - a safe, alternative method of printmaking without the use of dangerous chemicals - andhe continues to inspire students, teachers and artists with international workshops that demonstrate his printmaking processes. As Director of Hampton Editions, Ltd. printing services in Sag Harbor, Long Island, Dan has collaborated with many noted artists including Willem and Elaine de Kooning, Jimmy Ernst, Alfonso Ossorio, and Jack Youngerman among many others.

Partial sales proceeds from the exhibit will benefit the Inspiration Plus Foundation - a charitable educational organization with the purpose of improving the lives of individuals of all ages through exposure to art, science, and music.
