"The Circle" National Juried Exhibit And Annual Charity Drive Opens On Small Business Saturday At Alex Ferrone Gallery.
Tendril by Lois Youmans
The Circle - Small Works Exhibit 2016 features fifty photographic works that depict how the circle plays an integral role in composition, form, design, and/or subject matter of the image. Juried by art critic, Charles A. Riley II, PhD, works by thirty national artists were selected for the exhibition. All works are affordably sized 14 inches or smaller and are available for purchase. The artists' reception opens the gift-giving season on Small Business Saturday, November 26 from 6-8pm and is open to the public. Four Awards will be presented to the winners at the reception and guests can enjoy holiday cheer from Clovis Point Vineyards with light bites.
Dr. Riley noted about the exhibition, "The deeper I waded into the pool of images submitted, I further realized that the circle is more than a symbol, iconographic element, geometric figure or schematic guide to composition. It has the archetypal depth that reaches beyond abstract thought to an original pattern - a natural sense of order that is pervasive in the exhibition of an admirable variety of styles of the selected works."
Aside from being chosen for the exhibition at the Gallery, awards include an Olympus camera from Berger Bros., along with photographic prizes from Duggal Visual Solutions, Abbot Art & Framing, and Abatelli Realty. The Circle - Small Works 2016 offers wonderful gift ideas of original art for the upcoming holiday season and runs through Valentine's Day, 2017.
