Gretta's Goats

by Ryan Salinetti in Health, Home

Photography by Kaitlyn Mcquaid

Gretta’s Goats is a crafted artisan soap that is made with moisturizing farm fresh goat milk, organic sustainable vegetable and essential oils. The soap is carefully crafted in small batches utilizing the cold-process method of soap making.  Gretta’s mini dairy goats are seasonally milked twice daily and graze on twenty five acres of organic pasture at Farwell Bridge Farm.

Gretta’s soap workshop and farm is located in the small Midwestern community of Pecatonica, Illinois. Nestled on a hilltop prairie the abundance of wildflowers, prairie grasses, and wildlife provide the inspiration for the natural artisan soap.

"I started my farming career on leased farmland in Grayslake, IL 5 years ago as part of the farm business development program at Prairie Crossing Certified Organic Farm. My dream was to purchase my own farm to start an organic micro dairy. That dream came true last year when I bought a 25 acre farm in Pecatonica, IL. Our farm consists of 30 dairy goats, 15 acres of grazing land for the goats, which includes a 6 acre black walnut grove that we are in the process of restoring. We took 10 acres out of conventional row crops and replaced it with pasture and hay for the goats. We hope to start construction of our dairy to enable us to expand our farm operation in 2015."—Gretta Winkelbauer, Farmer

Gretta’s Soap is for people who are looking for products that are locally made, that exclude artificial colors and synthetic fragrances, and that are environmentally friendly. Gretta’s Goat Milk Soap is safe and gentle for children and people with the most sensitive skin due to a chemical free recipe.
