Rachel Wadlow, Artist

by Ryan Salinetti in Artists, Painting

Unique creations inspired by natural formations...

I love exploring the abstraction of shapes and textures that I find in nature, specifically in rocks and minerals. I think of my paintings as “snapshot” responses to my inspiration, collected together and repurposed into their own unique visual experiences.

My process is largely based on intuition and spontaneity, which gives way to the creation of layers formed out of the deconstruction and reconstruction of ideas.

These layers serve as visual comparisons to the natural formations I find in the world. Many beautiful natural forms are birthed out of many years of pressure, weathering, and even decay…And this reminds me that there is a transcendent beauty within the twists and turns of the process.
