Lucia (loo-cee-uh) Dill (like the pickle) is a visual artist who grew up in California. After receiving a BFA in Painting/Drawing from California College of the Arts in Oakland/San Francisco, she settled into a studio at Makers WorkSpace in Berkeley, CA. Her studio practice centers around painting with acrylic, but also includes embroidery, writing, and bookmaking. In her art, she considers moments and dynamics that might not get documented and shared. She translates emotions, experiences, thoughts, and observations into scenes, where folding chairs and other figure-like objects function as universal characters. Text, as title or story, conveys further context through ambiguous descriptions, poetic fragments, and questions. Her work has been featured on The Jealous Curator, The Coastal Post, and in the literary magazine, Star 82 Review, as well as exhibited in California, Colorado, and New Jersey.
