Michael Robbins, Woodworker

by Ryan Salinetti in Artists, Furniture Design, Industrial Design, Home, Retail, Woodworking

Drawing from simplicity, utility and a joy of form, Michael creates pieces that are exceptionally well made out of time honored materials.

Michael is a 7th generation upstate New York resident. Growing up in the Mohawk Valley, he developed an affinity for nature which led to his passion for the craft of woodworking and continues to influence his design aesthetic.

After finishing art school in 2005, Michael worked on trail crews in the Adirondack Mountains and then on a handmade timber framed cabin in rural Vermont where he learned from a master woodworker. He then worked on building a small adobe in New Mexico where he purchased his first lathe and made his first stool. Robbins subsequently founded his studio in 2011 and now works out of a former wool factory in Philmont, NY designing furniture that reflects the simple beauty of his rural landscape.

The furniture is available in different finishes and most can be customized.
